Having bought a pre-owned Sony FM stereo tuner through eBay, it came without any manuals. It soon became clear that to get the best from this excellent tuner I needed a decent manual because much of the operation was not intuitive to a newboy to hi fi like me. I managed to download the official Sony multi-lingual manual from Owner-Manuals.com with no problem at all - a really quick and easy service. I'm very glad I did because I found out all the operations of the tuner and was then able to not only set it up quickly but also to get much more from it that poke-and-hope trialling would ever achieve. In my book $4.99 very well spent.

DTS (DTS Digital Surround)
Bei Wiedergabe einer DVD, deren Audioinformationen im DTS-Format aufgezeichnet wurden, wird als Surround SoundBetreibsart automatisch DTS eingestellt. DTS Digital Surround bietet bis zu 5.1 (5 plus 1) Audiokanäle mit geringerer Kompression als beim Dolby Digital-Format, wodurch die Durchsichtigkeit und Dynamik des OriginalSoundtracks nahezu erhalten bleibt.
DTS-ES(Erweiterter Surround Sound):
Hierbei handelt es sich um ein neues MehrkanalDigitalformat, das, dank eines erweiterten Surround-Signals, die räumliche 360° Surround Sound-Wiedergabe erheblich verbessert. Zudem ist dieses neue Format kompatibel zum herkömmlichen DTS-Format. Zusätzlich zu den fünf Audiokanälen des herkömmlichen DTSFormats bietet DTS-ES Audioinformationen für den Surround Back-Kanal, der manchmal auch als �Surround Center� bezeichnet wird. Insgesamt stehen also 6.1 Kanäle zur Verfügung. Für eine optimale Wiedergabe in DTS-ES-Qualität benötigen Sie daher sechs Lautsprecherboxen sowie einen aktiven Subwoofer. < Die Audioinformationen des Surround Back-Kanals liegen Matrix-codiert in den Signalen der beiden herkömmlichen Surround-Kanäle vor. Bei Verwendung von nur fünf Lautsprecherboxen wird die Klanginformation des Surround Back-Kanals über das Surround-Boxenpaar wiedergegeben, so dass keine Klanginformation verloren geht. Es gibt zwei unterschiedliche DTS-ES-Formate: DTS-ES Discrete 6.1: Bei dieser Variante liegen tatsächlich 6.1 diskrete Audiokanäle (inklusive des Surround Back-Kanals) vor, wodurch eine optimale, überaus realistische Klangverteilung in einem 360° Klangfeld erzielt wird. DTS-ES Matrix 6.1: Bei dieser Variante ist das Audiosignal des Surround BackKanals nicht als eigenständiger Kanal sondern als codiertes Signal in den beiden Surround-Kanälen vor. Während der Wiedergabe werden diese Informationen wieder decodiert, so dass sie als linker und rechter Surround-Kanal sowie als Surround Back-Kanal vorliegen. Bei der Decodierung von DTS-ES Discrete 6.1 oder Matrix 6.1 Programmquellen mittels DTS-ES-Decoder wird das jeweilige Format automatisch erkannt und entsprechend optimal wiedergegeben.

DTS 96/24 unterstützt Audio-Signale auf 5.1 Kanälen mit bis zu 24 Bit und 96 kHz. Im Vergleich zu 48 kHz/16-BitLaufwerken bietet das System einen erweiterten Dynamikbereich, während die höheren Abtastraten einen breiteren Frequenzgang ermöglichen.
